Bvlgari Octo Finissimo CarbonGold makes solid carbon fiber look gentle

Bulgari has been making wholesale fashion watches for decades, but the launch of the Octo Finissimo in 2014 further cemented its place among a wider range of watch collectors. In the current market, luxury sports watches from Genta are the most popular. When Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari’s Executive Director of Product Creation, remixed Gérald Genta’s Octo to create Finissimo, it became a unique and powerful competitor. The collection began with single-color sandblasted titanium models and has since evolved to include models in stainless steel as well as models in titanium, ceramic and precious metals. Most parts of the watch – the case, bezel and bracelet – are made from carbon fiber. The natural white swirls in the carbon create a marble-like effect, giving it a sense of opulence that only Bulgari can achieve. Most carbon fiber watches feel very "tool watches". CarbonGold Finissimo gives carbon a complexity that I have never seen in a material before. Now, I know the Finissimo's origins may be more monochromatic, but the indications on both models are less legible against the carbon dial. Thus, rose gold elements once again provide these models with an even greater sense of sophistication and legibility.

Likewise, the BVL138 in automatic watches and the BVL305 in perpetual calendar watches are structurally and functionally identical to their predecessors. However, Bulgari has visually updated the movement, plating the bridges, balance wheel and micro-rotor with rose gold to maintain the carbon gold look of the entire watch.
